HISPANIC HERITAGE CONCERT CELEBRATION
Jointly presented with MDCA, this free season opener is a lively gift to the public featuring Spanish and Spanish-influenced favorites including Ravel’s Bolero, the “Ritual Fire Dance” from DeFalla’s El Amor Brujo, and Danzon No. 2 by Marquez, plus several popular Spanish songs. Joining the
orchestra will be special guest performers soprano Megan Barrera and the Doral Symphony Orchestra with singers Manuel Arvelaiz and Roque Cedeño. Enjoy a live performance by a full symphony orchestra presenting beloved masterpieces inspired by the culture of Spain.

SPOOKY SYMPHONY: A Halloween Extravaganza
Presenting our highly anticipated fifteenth annual concert of macabre masterpieces with a frightful and fantastical kid-friendly, multimedia Halloween spectacular for young audiences. This spectacular program is appropriate for the entire family, and all are encouraged to watch the presentation in costume. Presented in partnership with Greater Miami Youth Symphony and The Children’s Trust. The combined orchestras, with musicians in costume, will present eerie classics and current movie favorites, backed by coordinated images on a gigantic screen.

SOUTH FLORIDA’S GOT TALENT
Enjoy an evening of up-and-coming classical stars. Join us for an inclusive experience designed for audiences of all ages. This concert will feature the top three winners of our prestigious annual concerto competition: Gabe Rodríguez, cello; Noa Michaels, harp; and Michael Li, violin. These young, talented musicians from South Florida will present Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1, Debussy’s Sacred and Profane Dances, and Mendelssohn Violin Concerto as soloists, accompanied by the full Alhambra Orchestra. In addition, get a thrill out of full orchestral showpieces interspersed with opera overtures by Verdi and Strauss. This is one of our most popular events.

A VISIT TO ITALY
Moving from Baroque greats like Vivaldi and Cambini, through the famous writers of grand opera, and into movie composers, Alhambra’s small ensembles will perform a kaleidoscope of short Italian works for strings, winds, and brass. Highlights include the Vivaldi flute concerto “La Tempesta di Mare” with soloist Carol Naveira-Nicholson and Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Four Violins,” spotlighting artistic director Daniel Andai and three friends.

Inspired by a total solar eclipse, the orchestra will partner with the Moss Center to produce a space-oriented family concert with astronomical images projected behind the orchestra. Highlights include music from Holst’s Planets and from movie/TV franchises Apollo 13, Star Wars, and Star Trek, and orchestral arrangements of other space-themed works.

34th SEASON FINALE
